Constant power and price; excludes fixed charges. Use PUE 1 if measuring the whole facility.
All amounts use the same currency of your choice. These are estimates, not measurements or offers.
How to use this calculator
Use measured average power, daily hours and days. A power supply’s maximum rating is not continuous consumption. Enter your contract’s unit price; the example is not a current tariff.
Worked example
250 W is 0.25 kW; 24 hours for 30 days gives 720 hours.
At PUE 1: 0.25 × 720 = 180 kWh.
At 0.20 currency units per kWh: 180 × 0.20 = 36 variable cost.

Interpreting the result
If you measure only IT equipment, PUE estimates total facility energy. PUE 1.5 raises this example to 270 kWh. Do not apply it again if cooling and other facility loads are already measured.
Frequently asked questions
What does PUE mean?
Total facility energy divided by IT-equipment energy over the same period; a multiplier in this model.
Are tax and fixed charges included?
Only what is included in your unit price. Add other bill components separately.
How do I use time-of-use tariffs?
Calculate each period with its own hours and price, then add costs without double-counting hours.
